It's time to start planning for the Elkhorn Quest 2017-2018 school year! Please add your ideas here in the comments, including things you and your kids would love to see, class ideas you could teach and classes you'd help with us someone else were teaching them. Please remember that to participate in Elkhorn Quest Co-op classes, you will end up teaching a class (most likely, unless they are filled up), assisting in a class and having one staff position (teens pick up another staff position). Also keep in mind that this year we won't have the storage we have in the past years, so we won't be keeping any supplies there in-between. As ideas come in, scroll through and comment on people's ideas so we can get the creative juices really flowing! You'll get emails about people's comments to your ideas, so that's why it's good to comment directly at another person's comments.

I'm willing to lead a book club, where everyone in the class reads a book, perhaps a Little House one or some other classic, and we meet to talk about it. Mixed ages preferred, probably no cost but would need to read or listen to an audiobook for homework.

I have boys who would fee interested in archery, too, though I don't think there is any way we can do that at the church. But we would be interested in opportunities that arise out if this line of thought.

I am interested in teaching Chemistry. I am wondering if we would need to meet outside of Quest for lab or not. I would need to look at the the text.

There is a 4-H Shooting Sports Club here in Omaha that is supposed to be really good. They do archery and air rifles. Safety is their number one priority. They also do competitions. You have to be a 4-H member, which costs $10, but you don't have to do anything else with 4-H if you don't want. Ages 8 -18. They meet on the first and third Saturdays near Springfield. I can get you contact info if you're interested.

I am possibly intetested in teaching a memorization class. Multiplication, presidents, states and capitals etc. All with songs.

My kids would love that kind of art! Also, would you consider teaching that class about job finding skills second semester if you find your work load isn't too bad?

My mom and I were going to continue the art class and we were thinking about maybe a geography class. Noah would absolutely love a weather class. Would like to see hand sewing continue, some sort of gym class like ninja warriors, and maybe some kind of baking class for early elementary even something simple like making different salads (ex: fruit salad) where they can practice adding ingredients.

I'm sure we would have kids interested in geography or weather.

Hand sewing would be great. I'd be up for organizing a once a semester during family group time, book report presentation for kids who would like to or need to present book reports.

I love the idea of doing book reports for workshop! Let's definitely do that! We could even do it 2-3 times if you wanted.

Melody, was it you talking about doing a Rush Revere book as a class? That sounded like such a fun idea. It seemed we had several people who were interested in that at the time.

(Felicia is submitting this for her) Deb said she's willing to do sewing machine again, and perhaps a more advanced class from her house, as well.

Some classes Bella would be interested in sewing machine, and hand sewing class, a cooking class for middles, some type of hands on science that would have STEM activities or hands on experiments for middles, a gym/ninja warrior class to use up their extra energy and teach team work, and playing by rules.

Elissa has informed me that she is willing to lead or assist in some kind of a drama class, or teach a drawing class, probably involving drawing people.

I am considering a more basic computer class, maybe some Microsoft office, Word, Excel, etc. I think Ellen and Daniel were still interested in more programming so that's still an option too.

Daniel is interested in any computer related class you do, and I like the idea of the basic one. I'd probably have 2-4 kids who would do that.

We are interested in many of those mentioned...a ninja warrior class, weather or hands on science, middles cooking, art, etc. I would be willing to teach something that has a curriculum already (just not sure I'm ready to make up my own yet) or co-teach something.

Many good ideas, can't wait to see what opportunities come about. TJ is interested in art, physical exercise, and any type of hands on science or engineering. The missionary stories and a book club also sounds interesting. I would love to sign up to assist in several classes, can't say which ones yet, but would prefer middles classes.

I don't want to commit to teaching anything yet since we might not be around next year, but if we are I would prefer something like the freestyle Lego class.
