A lot of us are trying to figure out the details of what life will look like in this world we currently live in. I'm happy to say that we do have some direction, and are working on the details. We intend to keep things very similar to the way they have been the last several years. Let me explain:
ELKHORN QUEST WEEKLY
We are planning to have weekly activities that homeschooling families can join. These activities are often free and require no signup (field trips sometimes a cost and require signup). You are welcome to come to any of the planned activities when it works for you, but you're not committed to being involved in them for the year.
On the first and third Fridays, we have a workshop time that involves children of all ages, and a special presentation by one of our families or by another presenter. This will be from 1:00-1:45. You are welcome to bring your own bag lunch and visit beforehand, at 12:00. On the second and fourth Fridays, we would like to have field trips and park days. I'm not entirely sure how this part will pan out, so we'll let you know how that happens.
ELKHORN QUEST CO-OP
Our fall semester co-op classes are currently open for registration, and you may look at the co-op tab to see what we are dooing. Classes meet on the first and third Fridays before the workshop time, from 9:00-12:00. The fall semester will involve 8 classes from September through January, and the spring semester will be 8 classes from February through May. We put together a variety of classes that meet the needs of those involved, and we all help and work together to make it happen. As a result, we are able to keep costs very low. Each family involved volunteers about two to three hours of teaching, assisting or helping, bring a snack or supply item one time, a building use fee of $35 a semester, and a $50 deposit to be returned at the end. Some classes have very small fees, and many have no cost. For that, you may sign up for any or all of the classes we offer- even parents can join! If you are interested in being involved, you need to contact us for an interview.
SUPPORT
Homeschooling can be a challenging decision, and we want to come along side you in this adventure. We have several wonderful, experienced parents happy to answer questions and brainstorm with you. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or are struggling through something.
